SONGS FOR YOUR WARMUP

1. “Energy,” by Drake

Feeling drained before your after-work workout? Well, let your boy Drake remind you that while your boss may be trying to “drain you of your energy,” your sweat session is your time to get that energy back. Own this moment and savor it—until the next time your boss hits you up and you see that “hotline bling.”

2. “American Oxygen,” by Rihanna

Inhale the positive and exhale the negative as you get ready to get your flex on. RiRi reminds us that “sweating for every nickel and dime” may be the American way, but once your sneakers hit that studio floor, it’s all about you. So breathe in and breathe out.

3. “Can’t Feel My Face,” by the Weeknd

Although you may not be able to feel your legs after today’s squat challenge, the real deal is the Weeknd’s No. 1 hit. So push play while you pregame because this is the only jam you’ll need to prep for a workout that makes you weak in the knees.

4. “Rise Up,” by Andra Day

If the sound of this songstress’s voice doesn’t make you want to rise up and shape up, then I don’t know what will. Although the melody is slow, the message is powerful enough to power you from the locker room to your warmup for sure.

5. “Bad Blood,” by Taylor Swift (Featuring Kendrick Lamar)

Get ready to unleash your inner superhero and seek revenge on those wings you just couldn’t resist last night with this popular anthem. That’s right, processed food; I used to have “mad love,” but now that I’m on my get-fit tip, we definitely have “bad blood”!

SONGS TO HELP YOU “TURN UP”

6. “Trap Queen,” by Fetty Wap

Nothing like a good rush of endorphins to have you leaving the gym feeling like royalty. Fetty can definitely help you get sweaty, since he currently has four songs in the top 10 on Apple Music’s hip-hop/rap chart.

7. “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae),” by Silentó

I love a good line dance. Who doesn’t? So if you do, too, then work your core some more, and don’t be ashamed to Nae Nae in between those weight-room sets. Or “hit the Quan” during your total body circuit, if you dare. After all, dancing is legit cardio, folks.

8. “You Can’t Stop Me,” by Andy Mineo

Hit the pavement feeling unstoppable with Mineo’s popular track. This beat hits so hard, you won’t even feel the ground hitting you back as you clock mile after mile. Quick warning: You may have to fight the urge to yell out “You can’t stop me!” in between those tempo intervals, though.

9. “Burnin’ Up,” by Jessie J (Featuring 2 Chainz)

Get ready to feel your heart rate go up as you turn up with Jessie. Oh, and that 2 Chainz verse?! All I have to say is that if you put this track on in the middle of your workout, the middle of your body will be superchiseled after all those “kick-ball changes” you are bound to bust out. Hello—turn the fitness club into a nightclub.

10. “Hey Mama,” by David Guetta (Featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack)

When four hot artists come together on one song, you better be ready for one hot training session. Something about this summer’s No. 1 hit makes you feel as if you’re either on a runway or about to walk into the ring to compete in the fight of your life. Either way, you’ll be fired up.

SONGS FOR WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO KEEP UP

11. “Blessings,” by Big Sean (Featuring Drake and Kanye West)

We all hit that plateau in our workout (and in life) when we feel as if we just can’t go on. Well, y’all, this is the time to check back in before you check out—and count your blessings. Fitness is a journey, not a destination, so remember all those “blessings on blessings on blessings” that got you to where you are now.

12. “Fight Song,” by Rachel Platten

Go, Rachel, go! I remember five years ago when I saw her at a little bar in New York, so to see her inspirational song at the top of the pop charts makes me want to sing along as I bang out those last burpees in boot camp. May it inspire you to to be strong and realize you still “got a lot of fight left” inside you.

13. “Overcomer,” by Mandisa

This American gospel-and-contemporary-Christian artist is all you need to overcome exhaustion while exercising. Guaranteed to light a fire of inspiration in your bones that will leave your muscles screaming, “Hallelujah!”

14. “7/11,” by Beyoncé

Move those “legs side to side” and “clap, clap, clap like you don’t care.” Queen Bee knows how to make us both bop and drop—hello, cardio. So, about this track? Spin it while you spin, and once you’re done, invite your ego and my girl Nicki to the party for those post-workout sweaty selfies. Because everyone knows that “Feeling Myself” (by Nicki Minaj, featuring Beyoncé) is great for that post-workout “Yeah, I did that!” moment.

15. “Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix),” by Omi

When you “need motivation, your one solution” should be the person staring back at you in the mirror. Simply put, if you are your No. 1 cheerleader, then there is nothing you can’t do in your fit life. Scratch that—your entire life. So stay strong, #fitfam! Mind, body and spirit.
