#4 Layer It On (Not So) Thick

Jacket RAD

Nothing like heading out for a run on a cooler day with too many layers on only to end up with a bulky tire tied around your waist and uncomfortable unnecessary weight. Drives. Me. Crazy. I have literally been tempted to donate my long sleeve top layers to Mother Nature during runs when this happens. That was until Zoot® changed my world with the Zoot® Ultra Run Flex Wind Jacket. Like it’s name suggests, this top layer does it’s job without getting in the way. Love. This. The unique ETHERwind fabric not only guards your against wind it is also water repellent. But don’t be fooled, this lightweight layer is not lacking in the warmth department thanks to the MEGAHEATthermo hybrid construction. Plus, you are going to go crazy when you see how many zipper pockets are available to store all your running essentials and gadgets. Oh and how could I forget the best part- when it is time to take it off mid run…it is light as a feather. Talk about layering it on (not so) thick.

#5 Throw Some Shade

Shades RAD

If you like to run out while the sun’s out then you shonuff know that the perfect pair of running sunglasses are everything. Well search no more sunbathing runner, I have found a pair that you will always want to wear (even when you aren’t running). The VonZipper Cletus Spaceglaze Limited Edition are so fly it is silly sis. Look out of this world and protect your peepers with this winning pair. 100% UV protection, impact resistant polycarbonate lens (incase you run into something), nylon grilamid frames (sweat doesn’t stand of chance of wrecking these frames), and stainless steel optical hinges (hello classy)! Go ahead and get you a pair so you can throw some shade when you cross the finish line speed racer.

#6 Watch Yourself

Watch RAD

How fast do you run? Where in the world are you? Is that loop around the park really 4 miles? Well wonder no more with the Garmin Forerunner® 10. This tech savvy GPS running watch tracks your distance, speed, pace and calories while also identifying your personal records. Need a little running motivation? No problem since this wrist swag also provides just that and more with it’s expansive online running community Garmin Connect™. Don’t want to drop any dough just to know your running specs? Then download a free app. Here are two of my top picks: 1) MapMyRun. For free ninety nine track where you are, how fast you are running, how many miles you’ve logged, how many calories you’ve burned and so much more. 2) Nike+ Running App. For absolutely nada get more from your run with this widely popular app. Train like you mean it by setting goals and letting your friends on social media know about your running adventures. Every time you get a “like” you will hear cheers over your playlist! My favorite part of all though is the “Powersong” option. Perfect push for those difficult hills or that last mile. I see you girl, watch yourself!

#7 Get On Your Good Foot

Shoe RAD

Finding your sole mate is every runner’s life journey and dream. So once you do finally fall in love you will never turn back. Found love? Great. Still looking for love? I got you. Allow me to hook you up with the Mizuno Women’s Wave Rider 16. This perfect neutral running shoe has the weight of a minimalist shoe yet provides a sculpted exquisite fit. I have clocked some serious miles with these award winners and know you will fall in love at first run too. The updated version now has a new mesh material throughout the upper region which creates a super natural fit. I’ve never met a shoe that can provide comfort, support sans bulk the way this neutral gait shoe does. Plus Leanne Shear reminds us that, “sneakers should be replaced every 4-5 months (at least)—more if your mileage is up there…also don’t shirk on size and save your toenails: running sneakers should be about half a size larger than your regular shoe size, as feet can swell up, especially on long runs or in warmer weather.” So don’t wait hun, get on your good foot.
